What is ABA?
Ovation Behavior Group provides applied behavior analysis services to individuals with autism, ADHD, and those that require a little extra support. So, what is ABA anyway?
In short, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a type of therapy that helps individuals that require extra developmental support to learn new skills and behaviors. ABA is based on evidence that behavior is learned and can be changed through positive reinforcement, prompting, and breaking skills down into smaller, more manageable objectives.
The purpose of ABA is to identify, reinforce, and increase desired behaviors (like communication, social, and adaptive skills), which over time makes problem behaviors less likely to occur. ABA helps individuals to develop social skills, communication skills, and adaptive skills that are essential for success in school, work, and daily life. Often we see that as an individual increases their proficiency in these skills, challenging behaviors tend to naturally decrease.
At Ovation, we recognize and celebrate the unique strengths of all individuals. We prioritize independence while helping to overcome challenges. We believe ABA is a person-centered therapy and that successful treatment involves tailoring to the unique needs and preferences of each individual.
We believe ABA is an essential tool for improving the quality of life for all individuals - not just those with a diagnosis. If you are considering ABA as a treatment option, or want to know more about it, visit our In-Home Services page or reach out to us today.
